First Heartbreak

In this free verse poem, the author delves into the tender yet tumultuous experience of a first heartbreak. Through reflective and raw expression, the poem captures the intensity of young love, the pain of unrequited feelings, and the profound journey toward healing. Despite the emotional turmoil, an undercurrent of optimism runs through the verses, suggesting that the end of one love is merely the beginning of new possibilities. The poem invites readers to acknowledge their heartbreaks while finding solace in the promise of future love and the healing that comes with it.
He was my first love.
And I thought he was my everything
But then he left me
And my heart was shattered into a million pieces

I loved him with all of my heart
But he didn't love me back
And that hurt more than anything

I gave him everything I had
But it wasn't enough
And now I'm left picking up pieces
Of my broken heart

I know I'll be okay. Eventually
Because even though he was my first love
He won't be my last
